Marysville approves $418K design contract for West Lift Station rehab

Why it matters

Lift stations move wastewater through the sewer system. This is behind-the-scenes infrastructure, but the design work is meant to keep the station operating reliably while the city prepares a larger rehabilitation project.

What happened

Council authorized the mayor to sign the BHC Consultants agreement for engineering and design services. Approved minutes record the Item 12 vote as AYES: ALL.

The details

• The agreement covers engineering and design through final bid-ready documents, an engineer?s opinion of probable construction cost, schedule development and bid services.
• The agenda packet says the West Lift Station is at 2510 Marine View Drive and has aging mechanical, electrical and structural infrastructure.
• Planned design work includes replacing dry pit pumps, valving and piping adjustments, aging electrical equipment, a bypass port for portable pumping and a new generator set subject to city approval.
• Building rehabilitation is expected to address water intrusion, roof drainage, plywood-covered windows, HVAC modernization, wet-well recoating, access hatches, ladders and wet-well instrumentation.
• The scope includes phased construction planning so the station can keep operating during future work.
• The packet schedule lists kickoff in May 2026, 50% design in August 2026, 90% design in November 2026, bid-ready documents and bid advertisement in February 2027, and bid award in April 2027.
• The $417,569 budget includes a $25,000 management reserve that can be used only with written city approval.
